Walking a labyrinth is one of my best meditations. In painting the labyrinth with a monoprint method, I find myself back in a meditative state. I lay paint onto a print plate and then pull paint off in the design of a labyrinth. The pulling of paint is like reverse calligraphy for me. The symbol is familiar, the design is known, and the process is both deeply creative and calming. Once the labyrinth is drawn, I place a sheet of paper on top and rub gently to transfer the print. Once dry, I bring out the design with colored pencils or acrylic inks. The result is an embellished calligraphy, a labyrinth waiting to be walked with the mind¹s eye.
